Sukhmani Bal

Sukhmani Bal is a recent graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara where she received her degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. She has spent the last two years working in the Behavioral and Neural Genetics Lab at UCSB researching the neurobiology of addiction. Sukhmani has guest lectured on the neural mechanisms and biology of mental illness and substance abuse disorders. She will beginning her MPH at BU in the fall where she plans to earn her certificates in substance abuse and community health. Through community engagement and cross cultural education she hopes to empower individuals to actively participate in their own treatment. By working to educate both the public and medical community she hopes to ameliorate the stigma attached to seeking treatment and make quality care accessible to all.
