Jang Cho, MD

Jang Cho, MD, received her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her Adult Psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. Afterwards, she finished her Child and Adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.  She was born and raised in South Korea, but attended a boarding school in Michigan for high school. It is from her own experience as a “parachute child” that Dr. Cho developed her interest in working with Asian American children. She is particularly interested in helping the immigrant parents and their children understand each other better and cultivate stronger bonds by bridging the cultural, generational and language gap.  In the past, she has headed a free mental health clinic for underserved Korean Americans in the DC Area, and has worked with the local Community Service center to promote mental health care for Korean Americans in the area. She is also a member of the Diversity and Culture Committee and co-chair for the Asian Caucus for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is currently working for Yakima Valley Farm Worker’s clinic in Yakima, WA.
